Child Arrangements Order Support

A child arrangements order sets out who your child lives with and when they spend time with each parent. If you cannot agree arrangements, you may need to apply to the family court using form C100.

What to expect

Most applicants attend a MIAM before applying, unless an exemption applies. After you apply, the first hearing (FHDRA) identifies the key issues and checks safeguarding. CAFCASS gives the court independent advice about your child's welfare. If you still cannot agree, the court sets further hearings.

Child Arrangement Orders FAQs

In most cases you must attend a MIAM first, unless an exemption applies, for example where there has been domestic abuse.

It varies a lot. Straightforward cases can be resolved at an early stage, while complex or high-conflict cases take longer.

You can raise them on the C1A form and in your evidence. The court will consider them before deciding what contact is safe.

I received invaluable support from McKenzie Friend Support during a very difficult time. Their knowledge and emotional support helped me through a very complex case over the past 18 months in my Child Arrangement Order and Financial Settlement, however, even until the end of the process, they were there every step of the way.
